Savvy Summer Hair

SummerhairLooking forward to the warm, sunny weather that comes with summer, but dreading the dull, brittle, and even frizzy hair that comes along with it?  Never fear, Studio Savvy is here! And we’ve got some weapons in our arsenal that can help combat any hair problems you may encounter this summer.

Most of you know about the Powerdose treatments we offer here, but some of you may not, so we’ll break it down for all of you. The Powerdose features core-to-surface technology to target all areas of the hair strand, delivering deep-conditioning and shine. Protein molecules dive inside the hair and fill “potholes” to strengthen, while ceramides close the cuticle on the outside to smooth. This treatment offers instant repair, reconstructing and rehydrating fragile, lifeless hair making the hair look and feel soft, shiny and healthy for UP TO 8 weeks (depending on the condition of the existing hair).

Olaplex is another service we offer here at Studio Savvy, it is the only product of its kind and the entire beauty industry has been buzzing about it for a while now. Contrary to popular belief, Olaplex is NOT a conditioning treatment–conditioners are cosmetic, but Olaplex works internally to cross link bonds that have been broken. Olaplex offers both in-salon and at-home treatment options. It allows us to rebuild the strength, structure, and integrity of the hair. Olaplex will relink bonds that are broken during chemical services and immediately strengthen the hair—but it’s not just for people who have chemical services done, it can be used on any client. Olaplex is a great way to sustain the structure of the hair, leaving the hair feeling soft, manageable, and reducing breakage. The best part about it? Even if you stop using Olaplex, the disulfide link is permanent—bonds that have been created won’t break and then cause the hair to break!

The biggest weapon we have in our armory is the Global Keratin Smoothing treatment for all you curly, wavy, frizzy haired clients out there. GK penetrates the cuticle of the hair to improve texture, enhance manageability and reduce frizz. This treatment does not straighten the hair, it will not remove all of the natural curl but it does smooth out wave and curl while eliminating frizz, repairing damage, and delivering shine. Global Keratin penetrates the hair shaft delivering important conditioning and moisturizing benefits which in turn, improves softness and reduces friction, enabling hair to better withstand heat, making the hair less prone to breakage. One of our favorite parts about this treatment is that it reduces drying time, making the hair more manageable for you to style at home—or not! It allows you to air dry your hair, which is a great option for all of our busy lifestyles, and it lasts anywhere from 3-5 months!

We hope this bit of information has made you even more hopeful and excited for the upcoming summer months, and washed any worries away concerning the abuse your hair might take. Make sure to ask your stylist about any one of these treatments and what the right option is to get you summer ready! And as always, you can keep up on all of the Glam Squad’s fashion adventures on our blog, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram!

Your Studio Savvy Tribe wants to keep you informed on why we are the best—besides the obvious reasons! 🙂 As many of you know, and for those of you who don’t, Deena has used the Framesi professional haircolor line for over 35 years, and she has introduced all of the stylists to the amazing world of Italian hair color as well. The Framesi founder believes that the hairdresser plays one of the most important roles in society because, when people feel beautiful, they present themselves with more confidence and are then more successful in their everyday endeavors. “Better Beauty = Confidence and Success.” Framesi offers a wide variety of the highest-quality permanent and demi-permanent haircolors on the market.

Every one of Framesi’s haircolor lines features a rich vegetable coconut oil cream base. A study by the Journal of Cosmetic Science proved (what Framesi has known for decades) that vegetable coconut oil protects the hair better than any other oil during chemical services. Coconut oil leaves the hair in superior condition, provides more resilience and shine, and protects the hair fiber resulting in less damage and minimal fadage. Framesi developers are the most conditioning developers ever created and every one of the developers features coconut and castor oils for maximum protection of the hair and scalp as well.

The original haircolor line from Framesi is called Framcolor Futura. This line, like all of the lines, features the vegetable coconut oil cream base but also has only 2% ammonia. The low 2% ammonia results in less fading and less damage, leaving the hair in superior condition. Futura covers the most resistant gray with incredible shine and cooler tonality.

The next line to emerge from the Framesi creators was Framcolor 2001. Fram 2001 features the same benefits of vegetable coconut oil cream base and low 2% ammonia like Futura, but it is continuously being updated to provide the latest, most up to date technology and color trends. Framcolor 2001 is the most technologically advanced color line in the world, and we have it! The 2001 series allows for more perfect, natural results and permits some of your more natural highlights to shine through.

Glamour is the newest permanent color line to emerge from Framesi. This line promises not only 100% gray coverage, but also ensures a uniform result from root to end without the risk of any color build up (which leaves the hair looking muddy and lifeless). Glamour protects the integrity of your hair as well, and with 49 different shades, including all of those vivid pure pigment “party colors”, it can tackle anyone’s hair care desires.

Eclectic is the demi-permanent color line from Framesi that sets the standard for all demis on the market. It is a 100% ammonia free, deposit-only, cream color. The vegetable coconut cream base along with conditioning silicone and castor oil, delivers superior condition and shine. Eclectic is great for people who: are sensitive to ammonia, have just begun getting gray or have little gray to cover, change their color often or do not want to make that commitment to permanent haircolor, and/or want fabulous shine. This demi-permanent haircolor also protects the hair up to 400 degrees of heat so it’s great for those of you who style your hair often!

Don’t worry blondies, we haven’t forgotten about you wonderful people who have given us our nickname as “The Blonde Salon.” One of the reasons we are able to create such beautiful, blonde heads of hair is because of the amazing bleach, DeColor B that Framesi provides us. DeColor B is one of the safest bleaches on the market. It conditions and protects the hair from damage, decolorizes evenly and the bluing agents refine unwanted warmth that is inevitable when lifting the hair.

As you can see, the Glam Squad at Studio Savvy is head over heels for every one of Framesi’s superior color lines and we want to get you excited about it too. We want to make sure that every guest who visits our salon receives the best treatment possible and for us, that all starts with the best color line out there!

Studio Savvy would also like to congratulate Deena and Desiree, once again, on their achievements of becoming pre-certified Framesi educators. This means that they are experts on all Framesi products. We are so proud! Studio Savvy is forever committed to continuing our stylists’ education in all aspects of the hair world so we are happy to say that each one of your stylists here will be given the opportunity to get certified as a Framesi educator in the near future as well.

That’s all of the schooling we have for now, we hope you enjoyed being hit with a little bit of hair color knowledge. One fashion tip before we say goodbye: Babylights and color melts are still on trend this season, so if you’re looking to shake it up a little bit with a new, fun, playful look, ask your Savvy stylist if any of these could be right for you. Until next time fashionistas, check us out on our website, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to stay up to date on all our Savvy Fashion adventures!Framesi_logo

We would also like to assure all of her clients that we are here to take care of their hair care needs while she is out.

Finally, we have a little favor to ask of you. The Glam Squad would love it if you would take the time to visit FINE magazine’s website and nominate Studio Savvy Salon Services as one of your favorite San Diego Wedding Merchants. We All Know About the French Twist and French Braid, but Do You Know About French Bangs?

braid_color_1The Studio Savvy Glam Squad is committed to keeping up on all the latest fashion trends, as well as sharing not only what they are, but how you can achieve them. One of the easiest ways to give yourself a fresh, new look is to switch up your color or it can even be as simple as changing up your bang.

Babylights are great for any type and color of hair. Chandelier Highlights are another name for these babylights that are great for brunettes. These subtle, fine highlights reflect light to make strands look more lustrous. Rose Gold is another color trend that is taking the fashion world by storm. This trend allows for a hint of a gilded-hue and is great for blondes. Another trend we love, Major Rootage (with brightness around the face). Hyper-visible rootage is totally on-trend for both brunettes and blondes, giving you an edgy, cool-girl vibe. One tip we have for you when it comes to this trendy color trend: your roots should match your brows.

When it comes time for your next haircut, keep these trends in mind. Choppy Tresses are the new, textured take on the bob. Ask your stylist for chin-length layers with lots of movement. Tip: Let your hair air dry for easy texture. French-Girl Bangs are another trend we are loving right now. Parisian-inspired fringe that has a way of haphazardly swooping to the side and (slightly) falling in your eyes creates an effortless look.

When it comes to hair styling, we have plenty of fresh ideas for you. The 70’s are back ladies, and so are Maxed-Out Curls. Big, bouncy volume is in and one way to rock this style is to wear it smooth on top and teased on the bottom. Brush out your waves for a soft, fluffy, glam finish. Loose Ends make being lazy look so good. Just twist your pony and pin, the messier the better. Keep the rest of your hair sleek for some contrast and a more polished look. The basic French braid is pretty, but kinda boring. The new way to braid like a boss—Brazen Braids—is to do multiple face-framing plaits.color_2

Your Studio Savvy Stylists have some general hair advice for you as well. Hair styles are more alluring and romantic when you deconstruct classic styles. Loosen up a French twist, let your baby hairs fly-free, try a knot instead of a perfect bun—get a little undone! Second-day hair? No problem! The teased, tousled styles that are in right now actually look better on hair that isn’t squeaky clean. Lastly, we all know that fierce feeling we have when walking out of the salon with a killer blowdry. Voluminous hair has always been a go-to, but now, the combination of messy texture and a touch of body gives this style a cooler spin. To give yourself that same sexy hair at home you can blowdry your hair upside down for a ton of lift on top, then finish with a curling iron to bend the ends and give it that finished look. Spray a little texture spray or hair spray and you’re good-to-go!
